I grew up in Budapest, Hungary and studied painting and printmaking at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. My passion for clay came later in my life after a successful career as an illustrator and printmaker.
I would describe myself as an experimental clay artist and a Raku firing enthusiast. I’m fascinated by the different materials, clays, glazes, firing techniques and the limitless possibilities offered by this medium. I make one of a kind works, mostly ceramic sculptures and unique functional pieces. I work at the beautiful space offered by the Boulder Potters’ Guild, where I have been a member since 2015. You can see my works either on my website, or by following me on Instagram at “katalinmessing.”
