Karen Dick has been an Estes Park resident for 30 years. She produces the work in her home studio and does the glazing and firing at the Boulder Potters’ Guild of which she has been a member since 1986. She was formerly a member of the Castle Clay pottery co-op in Denver and also the Brimstone Potters in Boulder.
“I love the process of making pots. I have worked in clay now for over 30 years and can honestly say that the fascination of making pots has never faded. The majority of my work is functional stoneware work that is meant to be used and enjoyed in our homes. I like to decorate the work with textural designs made by stamping, carving or incising the clay while it is still porous. I choose glazes that are enhanced by these textures.”
