Aio has lived many lives…and is loving their current one most of all. Their art experience began at a young age with classes in ceramics, photography, wood shop, and an apprenticeship with a cabinetmaker. Life's many demands kept them busy for a while, but they returned wholeheartedly in 2017 after finding artistic inspiration following some major shifts. It began with ink on paper—fluid visualization—and continues to deepen in multiple disciplines with ceramics currently at the forefront. In addition to their working membership at Boulder Potters Guild, they work and teach at Groundworks Art Lab. When not creating art (or helping others do the same) you will find them frolicking in nature with their people, fixing something, or cooking a hearty meal.

Artistic inspiration stems from the human experience—whether urban or wild. All of it is interpreted by the human mind and often becomes something much more than expected. Regarding clay, this means experimenting with botanically-correct plant pots, wheel-thrown and hand-built functional ware, and wild experiments in sculpture. Aio uses all ceramic processes available to them and selects clay bodies based on the intended use or firing process.
