I took my first pottery classes at about 8 years old with Charlie Woodman and Jonathan Thron where we learned how to throw -- throwing clay balls onto the ceiling of the studio! I later earned a BFA and an MFA and completed a BA in Art History in Paris. A Boulder native, I've since lived in Kansas City, Bozeman, MT, and NYC and spent eight years in Europe before returning to Boulder a few decades ago. Throwing is usually where I start, and I like to show the "hand" and the plasticity of thrown clay by moving the thrown pot while wet--simple but original utilitarian pottery. I also create sculptures -- pottery birds, even some political and hopefully poetic large platters. I am inspired by the work of Betty Woodman and Minnesota (Mingeisota) potters. Outside the Guild, I am also a member of the Colorado Cultural and Historic Resources Task Force (State emergency planning for cultural resources.)
