Tools
Beginning students should purchase a set of pottery tools at any store that sells art supplies. This kit generally costs approximately $15 and includes:
- sponge
- cutting wire
- trimming loop tool
- wooden rib
- cutting wire
- pin tool
Bring your own apron to protect your clothing and your own towel. Intermediate/advanced students may be asked to provide additional tools or supplies. Instructors will provide that information before the class begins or at the first class. Only clay included with your class registration can be used. Absolutely no production work of any kind can be made in class or practice sessions.
Clay
50 lbs of clay, and glazing and firing fees are included with class registration. NO outside clay is permitted. Only clay included with your class registration can be used. Absolutely no production work of any kind can be made in class or practice sessions.
Firing
All pots will be bisqued and glazes will be provided. Firings vary depending upon the class, but at least one firing will occur at the end of the class to fire finished pieces. Some instructors will also schedule a mid-session firing.
Open Lab Practice Sessions
Class registration includes access to Open Lab practice sessions. These typically take place Monday evenings 6:30 - 9:30 pm, Tuesday afternoons 1:00 - 4:00 pm and Saturday mornings 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, but are subject to change.
COVID-19
All members must be Covid vaccinated to enter the Guild. Students are encouraged to be vaccinated. As of October 2023, masks are recommended in all group spaces (teaching flex area, clay and glaze rooms) during classes and practice sessions. Anyone with cold or Covid symptoms should stay home following CDC guidelines for isolating and masking. Thank you for your understanding and care for all.
