Tools + Supplies

Classes

Beginning students should purchase a set of pottery tools at any store that sells art supplies. This kit costs approximately $15 and includes:

  • sponge
  • cutting wire
  • trimming loop tool
  • wooden rib
  • cutting wire
  • pin tool

Kits may be available for purchase for $15 at your first class.

Bring your own apron to protect your clothing and your own towel. Please note that paper towels are no longer provided in classrooms.

Intermediate/advanced students may be asked to provide additional tools or supplies. Instructors will provide that information before the class begins or at the first class.

Only clay purchased during your class can be used.  Absolutely no production work of any kind can be made in class or practice sessions.

PLEASE NOTE: Effective October 2021, all members must be VACCINATED to enter the Guild. Students are encouraged to be vaccinated.

Due to Boulder County's change to a high risk of COVID, as of June 8, 2022, MASKS ARE REQUIRED for all individuals entering the Guild facility during classes and practice sessions regardless of vaccination status.

  • Clay

25 lbs of clay, and glazing and firing fees are included with class registration. Additional clay may be purchased only if the instructor has approved this and kiln space is available. Cost of a second 25lb bag is $30-40 depending on the type of clay. NO outside clay is permitted and no student may use more than 75lbs in one 8-week session.

Only clay purchased during your class can be used. Absolutely no production work of any kind can be made in class or practice sessions.

  • Firing

All pots will be bisqued and glazes will be provided. Firings vary depending upon the class, but at least one firing will occur at the end of the class to fire finished pieces. Some instructors will also schedule a mid-session firing.

Class registration includes access to Open Lab practice sessions. These typically take place Monday evenings 6:30 - 9:30 pm, Tuesday afternoons 1:00 - 4:00 pm and Saturday mornings 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, but are subject to change.

  • COVID-19
