Pottery and Ceramic Sculpture by Kathy Kearns
As a teenager growing up in Boulder in the 1970’s, Kathy knew that she wanted to
make a life and career in the field of ceramic arts. During those years she worked
making clay at the Boulder Potter’s Guild and assisted Betty Woodman in her studio.
She continued her studies at the Kansas City Art Institute, receiving her BFA there.
Later she received her MFA from the University of Colorado before moving to California
and establishing her studio, Crockett Pottery, in the Bay Area.
Her presentation will touch briefly on her history and will focus on her recent work in
wood fire at the Cobb Art and Ecology Project in Northern California. She will also talk
about her recent travels and art residencies in Greece, and her participation in the
International Pottery Festival in Crete. This event is free to the public and will take place on Saturday, September 26th at the Boulder Potters Guild facility in East Boulder.
