This evening class is for intermediate and advanced level students who wish to expand their clay knowledge and skill set. Students in this class will be expected to utilize practice sessions. We will explore more advanced thrown forms (such as lids, altering thrown forms, etc.), surface decoration techniques, mixing glazes, and testing glazes. We will glaze work in both reduction and oxidation atmospheres, as glazes and clay can change depending on the firing environment. Students will learn how to “make” new glazes through line blends and triaxial blends, as well as mix their own test glaze from provided recipes. The finished pots from the class will be fired in a reduction and/or oxidation kiln. The same clay and glaze combos could look completely different depending on the environment!
